Although BRAND UP was cancelled due to the outbreak of the new coronavirus, the fashion sector associations that are Portugal Fashion’s partners had the opportunity to represent their sectors at the 46th event. The space that had been earmarked for Portugal Fashion’s showroom and the urban market hosted showcases by MODAPORTUGAL (an initiative of ANIVEC – National Association of Clothing Manufacturers and Fashion and CENIT – Textile Intelligence Centre), by APICCAPS (Portuguese Footwear, Components, and Leather Goods Manufacturers’ Association) and Selectiva Moda (ATP – Textile and Clothing Association of Portugal and ANIL – National Association of Wool Industries) in partnership with CITEVE – Portuguese Textile and Clothing Industries Technological Centre.

The ZONA INDUSTRIAL MODAPORTUGAL facility was an invitation to digital immersion in an industrial universe, environmentally sustainable and circular, evoking the movement and dynamics of a factory, amplified through video and photography. A concept that was part of the promotional strategy developed by CENIT and ANIVEC to celebrate the excellence, vision and know-how of the companies producing raw materials and making clothes.

APICCAPS, in partnership with the Footwear Museum, also hosted the AFTER&NOW exhibition, featuring 20 of the most relevant men’s footwear brands (J.Reinaldo, Nobrand, DiVERGE, Miguel Vieira, Valuni, Volca, RCM, Centenário, Carlos Santos, Profession Bottier, Walker Flex, The Baron’s Cage and Sanjo). Consequently, the Portuguese footwear industry paid homage to the companies that reinvented themselves, moving up the value chain. Companies that created new opportunities and discovered new worlds.

In line with international trends, Selectiva Moda, in partnership with CITEVE, hosted the iTechStyle Green Circle, a showcase that revealed Portugal’s capacity for innovation in the areas of sustainability and responsible production. The exhibit included eight products by as many clothing and wool companies, created in partnership with eight fashion designers: A. Sampaio with Maison Alexandrine, Joaps with Davii, LMA with David Ferreira, Lemar with Nuno Velez, Pé de Chumbo with Alexandra Oliveira, RDD with Diogo Miranda, Somelos with Miguel Vieira and Tintex with Katty Xiomara. All the products were designed using sustainable materials and produced through responsible processes.

It is worth noting that BRAND UP, Portugal Fashion’s commercial space which operates as a showroom and market open to the public for the sale of designer, fashion and lifestyle products, is normally supported by the majority of the business associations in the fashion sector. “Thanks to our partners, Portugal Fashion will be fulfilling one of its main aims: promoting the fashion sector in an integrated manner, with all of its segments involved. It is important to remember that these segments are examples of the excellence of Made in Portugal and greatly contribute to value creation, employment, and competitiveness in the international fashion sector”, emphasized Portugal Fashion’s Project Director, Mónica Neto. This edition was different, but in October we will return stronger than ever!
