Seaside has once again teamed up with Portugal Fashion as the official support brand for the CANEX Presents Africa @ Portugal Fashion
project. The international footwear brand, of Portuguese origin, has established itself as Portugal Fashion’s partner for the third consecutive year in the Support Canex category, providing footwear for the fashion shows of ten African brands.
Coming from countries as diverse as Kenya, Tanzania, Nigeria, Ghana, Egypt, Ivory Coast, Jamaica and South Africa, the collections, marked by a variety of fabrics, colors and textures, were completed on the catwalk with the versatility of Seaside footwear. The Portuguese brand’s cooperation has proved crucial in supporting the CANEX shows and promoting African talent, bringing out the best in African and Portuguese fashion in an intercultural and traditional synergy.
The brands taking part in the 53rd edition of Portugal Fashion were Anissa Mpungwe Atelier, Boyedoe, Dina Shaker, Keneea Linton, Maison Farah Wali, Mantsho, Sevaria, Studio Madoch, TJ WHO and Wuman.
The partnership developed in 2021 between Portugal Fashion and the African export-import bank AfreximBank underlines the support for skills transfer and opens windows of opportunity to the market. By taking part in the event, the designers take advantage of the know-how, notoriety and promotional capacity, as well as the connection between the city of Porto and the competitive textile and clothing industry in the northern region.
So far, the CANEX program has supported 70 designers from 26 countries in Africa and the Caribbean. The project involves fashion shows, a showroom with sales activities, an industrial tour and a mentoring program.
