Paris Fashion Week is Portugal Fashion’s first international stop in 2023, as part of the Next Step project, with the Ernest W. Baker duo in the official calendar of the French Men’s Fashion Week. It is on Saturday, January 21, that the autumn-winter 2023 collection, which officially introduces the brand in the womenswear segment, will be launched in a presentation by appointment format.

For the Autumn-Winter 23/24 season, Ernest W. Baker brings a change of perspective. Since the creation of the brand, inspiration has always derived from classic menswear codes, evoking, in particular, the elegance associated with “elderly gentlemen”. This season, however, the inspiration comes from the sophisticated and classic image of the “elderly women”.

The “Grandma Chic” collection is a reference to grandmothers and the sense of love and comfort they naturally emanate. It is Ernest W. Baker’s official introduction to women’s fashion. However, according to the designers, “the line between menswear and womenswear is blurred.” Grandma chic inspiration translates into menswear, just as classic menswear inspiration also shapes the brand’s womenswear line.

Reid Baker was born in Detroit and raised in rural Park City, Utah, while InĂªs Amorim was born and raised in Viana do Castelo. Founded in 2017 by the designers, the brand is inspired by Reid’s grandfather, Ernest W. Baker, one of Detroit’s first advertisers. With a sense of nostalgia, the intention is to reinterpret classic clothes that look like they were taken from Ernest’s closet. After releasing only their second collection, the designers’ brand has been nominated for the LVMH award 2018 edition and has outlets such as 10 Corso Como, Antonioli, Galeries Lafayette, SSENSE and United Arrows.
