Together with NorteShopping, Portugal Fashion is organizing four Flash Stage days, with workshops run by four designers – Hugo Costa, Katty Xiomara, Pé de Chumbo and Huarte. They will take place on January 19, 20, 26 and 27, starting at 3pm, in the Silo-Cultural Space, on Floor 0 of NorteShopping.
With the motto of bringing designer fashion closer to the public, Flash Stage also aims to promote upcycling and sustainability. Giving a new lease of life to old garments, using methods and techniques widely mastered by designers, or advising on ways to invest when buying new clothes, are the key themes.
Portugal Fashion’s Flash Stages will cover topics such as “Writing on what we wear”, “Well-wearing”, “Mixing to create” and “Recreating denim garments”. These workshops highlight the possibility of renewing your closet without necessarily buying new clothes.
The first workshop, “Writing on what we wear”, on January 19, will be led by Hugo Costa. Known for his eponymous brand, which uses the technique of hand-painting with messages written on the garments, the designer will share his technique and guide participants in their customizations.
On Saturday 20th, Katty Xiomara will lead the “Well-dressed” workshop, exploring ways to optimize the closet, highlighting essential and dispensable elements, as well as the importance of colors and details. Participation includes the book “Reflexo – Guia de bem-vestir”, written by the designer.
The following week, on January 26, the workshop “Mixing to create” will be led by Alexandra Oliveira, designer of Pé de Chumbo, a brand recognized internationally for its unique artisanal processes. Participants are challenged to bring a piece for transformation, promoting the “do it yourself” model.
The last workshop, on January 27, will be dedicated to denim. The partnership between designer Huarte and Salsa will give life to the “Recreating Denim Pieces” workshop. Denim pants will be transformed into skirts, vests or tote bags, allowing for customization according to each participant’s preferences. Designer Huarte and the jeanswear brand’s pattern-making and sewing team will accompany the activity.
